Verity Lane Market takes its name from Verity Hewitt who opened Canberra’s first bookshop in 1938 in the heritage-listed Sydney Building.
Based on Ospedale Degli Innocenti in Florence, the Sydney Building was designed by John Sulman to be the oldest commercial building in central Canberra.
